Galatina's Festival of Awareness: The Taranta takes shape and the area launches its "Human Canvas."

A chronicle of a special night hosted by Alessandro Greco, where the ancestral myth of tarantism became a collective embrace with Antonio Castrignanò. The "Let's give voice and space to the territory" section of Blogalmente lights up today with the colors and profound meanings that emerged on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Galatina, the historic cradle of tarantism, during the Festival dell'Aria Consapevole . A third edition, titled "Tarantica ensemble, memoria è futuro," sought to transcend the concept of a simple concert and transform itself into a participatory and visual work of art.

The visual metamorphosis of the Taranta

While the music provided the heartbeat of the evening, the visual and scenic impact was the true cornerstone. The choreography and dance movements brought to the stage a captivating and dramatic visual representation of the Taranta . The creature, the spider of myth and possession, came to life through imposing costumes and spectacular movements that enchanted the square, immersed in an atmosphere suspended between the red of the stage lights and the traditional Salento illuminations. The images collected document this extraordinary metamorphosis: the body bending, struggling, and finally freeing itself through the exorcism of dance.

The Human Canvas: the great cordon of Salento

The emotional climax of the event was reached when the Festival cast its web through the scenic device of the Human Web . A large cordon that ideally and physically united the square: citizens, artists, guests and, in the front row, the mayors and presidents of the Pro Loco associations of 20 municipalities in the province of Lecce (from Alezio to Aradeo, from Calimera to Castrignano del Capo).
